Lulu's smile was bright as she flipped the sign on Cafe Fina's door from 'Closed' to 'Open'. The last few days had been a flurry of handwavy activity as downstairs got some touch-ups -- and the upstairs apartment was completely renovated. She'd not yet moved her stuff over from the hotel, but otherwise the place was ready for anyone interested to move in.

Taking a seat at the front counter, Lulu finished up the specials board, ready for the first customer at the new Cafe Fina.

Grilled Chicken Panini with Spinach and Chèvre
On a black-olive, whole wheat ciabatta

Dinner Specials

Considering she'd gotten roped into 3MD without expecting it, Jaina was in a fairly decent mood when she took over her usual shift tonight. She wasn't looking forward to the cleanup that was probably going to happen later, and would be happy not experiencing further trauma, but for now, okay mood.

The two drinks earlier had helped there.

Considering he hadn't put any heating into the house he was staying in quiet yet, it'd taken a walk down into town to figure out what was different about the place. He'd been a little surprised, considering that he'd practically come to believe that this place ran on magic or some high tech alien source from the future, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to do what he could to help...

Castiel paused in the doorway of the pet store and looked around.

He'd had no idea that humans kept such a variety of animals as companions.

How on Earth would they find everything that Morgan and Dean had suggested he acquire for the Cat?

...someone didn't get to go to NYC.

To be fair, the city didn't exactly hold particularly happy memories for him. Once you've seen enough people shot in subway stations on grainy security cameras, not to mention nearly had your teammate blown up, the place just didn't have the same kind of allure.

Surprisingly, the ambulance ride hadn't really been that bad.

Either way, he had work and the store was open for what few stragglers had decided to stick around. It even had a dog, since Morgan felt it was almost cruel to make Clooney stay in that cold old house by himself.

Unaware that most people would change a sign such as the one standing outside of Our Lady of Fandom with, say, their hands, Castiel went out at about lunch time and stood wiggling his fingers around to rearrange the letters.

Welcome, Friends and Family

the sign said, in English, Spanish, and Sanskrit, followed by its usual declaration of catering to any religious or spiritual need. He'd considered adding something pithy about God or perhaps the souls of dogs, but rather felt that might contradict the whole "catering to any religion" thing.

The church was open, as it always was, and Castiel was there, as he sometimes was, ready to answer -- or dodge -- any questions from either the people of Fandom or their guests.

When he wasn't starting flame wars with slash fans on the internet, of course.

Barney was smart and had purposefully blocked all outgoing mail from Fandom to his New York City (sorry, no luck for you, Robin) and so could blissfully oversee the gathering of guests, students, teachers, and townies happening in the park. The day was bright and sunny, regardless of what any weather reports might claim.

The Student Council had done a nice job getting things together to greet the visitors. A wide variety of sumptuous food was spread out on long tables at one end of the park. In the center were plenty of comfortable blue and gold tables and chairs perfect for sitting, chatting, and eating. To the other end of he park was the registration table where visitors could sign in and pickup their name tags.

Just above the registration area was a gaudy banner announcing the start of a calm and relaxing weekend. Okay, a weekend where Barney got a lot of popcorn to listen to radio.

Morgan was in again after yet another job. He was starting to wonder if the crazies were coming out now that the weather was a little cooler. That just led to thoughts about decomposition rates and all kinds of things he didn't want going on inside his head, which is why he decided that he was going to look at his inventory today.

...and actually make it around to see the angel, if the guy didn't walk in with his usual timing sometime today. It'd been too long and he wanted to make sure the plumbing work was holding up.

Morgan dropped his bag behind the desk and plopped unceremoniously into his chair at the back. This one... this one had been a rough one, rougher than most even if he'd come home relatively unscathed in the physical sense. He almost would have preferred a cracked rib or a gash or even a bullet wound to what he'd seen this last week.

It would heal faster.

As it was, he made a note to head to the church and see how the angel was doing, maybe try and talk to him about it a little to see if he could make sense of things. For the moment, though? He was going to make sure he had that estimate for the girl who wanted the paddock and check the inventory.

...Morgan was not a happy man. For one, he wasn't please to wake up with a full head of hair this morning. It was scratchy and distracting and it'd covered his face. For another, he wasn't a man which, all right, was the main reason why he was displeased.

Suffice to say there was quite a lot of work that needed doing that morning, psychologically and clothing-wise, and that Derek couldn't say he was comfortable but he was at least sane by the time he slipped out the door.

He did have work to do or a store to run, after all. It just meant he wasn't taking ANY video conference calls today ("my camera broke") and the usual jovial handyman... wasn't, so much.

There was a rustle of feathers and a faint *fwoomp* of displaced air and Castiel was once again in Fandom, standing in the graveyard, looking mildly perturbed. His attempt to get back to his own world and discover what had happened with the Winchesters and the final seal had failed.

Rather dramatically, in fact.

Were angels the sorts of beings that were likely to say they were scarred for life, Castiel might even be saying that. Jimmy certainly was, at volume, somewhere in the back of Castiel's head.

Really. Some worlds.

He was quite pleased to be back in Fandom, where the vague sense of impending doom hadn't really vanished entirely, but rather faded from "we may all very well die" to "it's possible I'll end up in a silly hat, today."

Absolutely none of this showed on his face, of course. An angel had to maintain his dignity. He was a bit like a cat, that way.

The hall was still full of sleepers.

Luckily, there was plenty of food, coffee, and other drinks around to keep the doctors, nurses, volunteers and worried folk awake and wired and ready to spot any changes in condition.

For her part, Ino dreamt of sleep. But not the creepy sort of sleep. She could live without that, thanks. Unfortunately, she didn't have the time to sleep right now and there was no point in complaining.

There was work to be done, after all.

One mostly sleepless night for hapless clinic workers and volunteers? Check.

Rows and rows of sleeping people? Check and double check. The sleeping people were, in Ino's not-so-humble opinion, really freakin' creepy thank you ever so very much. She didn't like the numbers, at all. Or the fact that nothing yet could be done to wake them up.

(And, maybe okay, she also didn't like the fact that she hadn't gotten much sleep the night before, shut up.)

That didn't stop the nurses, volunteers, and coffee makers from chugging on bravely in the face of all that unrelenting sleep and making sure their patients were properly taken care off.

Morgan picked up the phone.

"Hey, Morgan. What's up? How you and Reid doing?"

He hadn't wanted to ask this, but with the dreams he'd been having and the falling asleep for two fricking hours apropos of nothing yesterday (around powertools, no less, he was lucky to have fingers!), he was pretty damn sure it was necessary.

"All right, I guess. But, uh, couple of things have teamed up on me lately, so I was wondering if maybe I could take about a week off. Take some leave."

"Uh... sure, Morgan. Are you all right?"

"Yeah, JJ, I'm cool. The kid's doing fine. I just need a little time to cool off."

"Okay, just... if you need anything, let us know, okay?"

"I know. And, uh, make sure my goddess doesn't worry too much about me." That got a laugh.

"I'm a miracle worker, but that is beyond even me, Morgan. Look after yourself."

After he assured her he would, he put up the sign to open the store for the day.

The calls had started early in the morning, and the patients had followed shortly after, all with the same problem - people had fallen asleep and couldn't be woken up. It didn't take long for it to become clear that the clinic wouldn't hold everyone - there really were a finite number of rooms in the place - and in quite possibly the only instance of anyone ever being grateful for the plague, it wasn't long before Martha, the nurses, and the town hall staff had figured out how to recreate the emergency clinic in the town hall. Cots were set up, supplies were brought over, and the rest of the clinic staff had been contacted. Now, all they needed was to get everyone rounded up to be taken care of, and to try to figure out what was wrong.

Castiel had an appointment with Chuck Bass to hear confession. As this was not actually something Castiel had experience with, he'd spent much of the day before preparing, looking up what traditions mankind had brought to the act, wondering just what the heck they thought saying any number of "Hail Mary"s was supposed to do for them, and generally just being baffled by human organized religion in general.

He'd forgotten to check on the actual physical location, however. And the left confessional was still leaking.

Well. Perhaps Chuck wouldn't notice?

Morgan was back from his case to open the store Monday, not that he looked like he should be doing anything but sitting in bed and recuperating.

Suffice to say, Montana (and a particular rocky incline there) had not been kind to him this time around.

So despite bruises and bumps, a few still-healing cuts and a very uncomfortable scratch from a shelf of rock along his arm, the handyman was in. The store needed to be open and Morgan needed to be there to accept the shipment of purpleheart wood he'd ordered, which wasn't to say he'd hadn't downed what felt like half a bottle of Tylenol this morning. Monday morning usually meant a check of the inventory, calls to the soda fountain supplier, restocking on coffee (and the inevitable Snippy Phone Exchange with that one kid at the Perk who worked the roaster), and making sure the fridge was cleaned out.

And, as of late, making sure the cream soda from either side of the border maintained an uneasy peace.

This last detail was usually saved for the end of the day, just so any failed negotiations didn't mean Lacey had to spend all day Monday with her clothes and hair all sticky. (That was more of an American cream soda issue. Ugh, high fructose corn syrup.) Unfortunately, around noontime a suspicious hissing noise from the storage closet prompted Lacey to hurry back there and check on the cream soda --

-- and not emerge after that. Apparently the two warring flavors had decided to pull her in to mediate on their conflict.

This was going to go so well.

Morgan was going to scrub his face clear off. The hardware thing, sure, that was going well but the paperwork was going to eat him alive. That's why, you know, when all the windows on his screen closed and a new one popped up, he cursed.

And that was before the DOS window opened and the soft, child-like (passive aggressive) singing started.

...the cake is a lie, after all. )

Morgan stared at his computer for a few minutes before pressing his laptop closed and blinking a couple of times. He didn't want to move, mostly because he was 1. supremely creeped out and 2. completely confused.

He actually knocked over his chair when the phone rang. Then there was scrambling and grabbing and flipping open of his little cell before he practically slapped himself with it.

"...wheels up in how long, JJ?"

"Three hours."

"Thank God."

"Morgan? Are you all right?"

The agent eyed his laptop once more before starting to unplug the damn thing to get packed up in his bags. All right wasn't exactly the right word, but it's not like he could explain what was going on to JJ. His laptop usually didn't close all his documents (oh god, he hoped it'd saved them) (but no, it hadn't) and sing about cake.

He didn't want to, he was pretty sure it was going to be a mess, but not saying anything at all kind of felt a little slimy to him and he figured forewarned was forearmed, right? As long as Morgan broke it to him carefully, it shouldn't be a problem if they bumped into each other somewhere.

Like the store. Or the house. Where they both had at least some reason to be on occasion.

Having gotten things settled with Reid had made Morgan considerably more comfortable about his place on the island; knowing that he'd have him in the house was a little weird even for him, but also something of a relief.

Then there'd been last night, with the 'angel' which... hey. He was still a little shaky when it came to his faith, Garcia or no, but the guy had been all right if a little weird. Definitely no creepy unsub vibes coming off of him. Of course, they'd all been fooled before but while Morgan knew he was fallible, he was pretty certain on this one; it wasn't that there hadn't been weird vibes off him, just not homicidally weird vibes which, as far as he was concerned, was all right. So, as it turned out, walking wasn't really Castiel's greatest skill.

Despite the fact that Chuck Bass had given him some very simple directions and the fact that the school he was intending to walk towards was castle-shaped and on top of hill, he still managed to get himself lost in Fandom.

By the time the sun set, he'd come to the helpful conclusion that Lucifer clearly hadn't ended the world yet, so odds were good that he wasn't going to in the next few hours or so (or that if he were, there wasn't a whole lot Castiel and Dean could do about it, anyway), and that perhaps a better knowledge of this somewhat otherworldly little island would be beneficial.

That's what he was telling himself anyway. He wasn't lost, he was gathering information.

If his host had a vote, Jimmy might have pointed out that a bed and some sleep might be a good idea. As it was, Castiel wasn't really 100% aware of his own host body's need for such things and thus, didn't need them, so he was all set to spend the whole night just wandering aimlessly through the town.

[ooc: Mostly just to get away with not having Cass actually end up trying to search the school for a Winchester, but also open.]

Morgan was starting to wonder if he shouldn't get out sometime tonight. After all, he'd been working on the house and his casework for what seemed like, hell, seemed like an eternity. He needed a beer, some dancing, a bit of music...

Maybe meet that Constable Day from the police station, if he was lucky.

That said, he was currently in his store, half working on BAU business with his laptop behind the counter and half sketching out the designs for the shelving unit he was going to make for that Ino girl. And he still had to get clearance for the shooting range and oh yeah, drag Reid there. That boy better have remembered to bring his sidearm or Morgan was going to give him trouble.

Morgan had spent most of the night listening to the podcasts as he did his paperwork and dealt with the house which left him with one conclusion:

Either the island and it's inhabitants was regularly exposed to hallucinogenic gas every few hours, or this place was fricking insane. His first instinct, to dismiss the craziness entirely out of hand, just didn't work when he thought about Constable Day or even Dinah and Ino. They'd all been too resigned, too earnest, Dinah especially. It had left him a lot of thinking to do before he finally got to bed, but in the end he'd come back to the store and opened up just like he'd planned to.

...which wasn't to say that his sidearm was at home. Oh no, man. His gun was staying in the same building with him at all times, preferably in the same room. He'd be wearing it if he didn't think it would scare away customers.

Morgan was damn proud of his work, since he'd spent most of the weekend when not driving friends here on fixing up the shelving, displaying the merchandise properly, and cleaning up the shop... which was why he put up a few of decorations from the Fourth of July, as well as a banner proclaiming it the 'Grand Opening!'. Of course, right below it was the more important information. There was the thought that maybe he shouldn't be so damn blatant since who was to say if Reid would be wandering the town, but he figured he wasn't really undercover, so why give a damn?

Even without the help of a Sherpa, all the baking and preparing for class later today had gone fairly well, but that didn't necessarily mean it had been an earlier night thanks to Ben's assistance. Quite the other way around, actually, so Daisy was very grateful for a lot of coffee this morning. She only had the morning to get all the work she usually fit into a day, so she wasn't going to let any lack of a proper stretch of sleep slow her down, either. A tall order, considering the size of some of the weekend broadcasts, but maybe she'd pop in again later to wrap things up, or maybe come in early tomorrow.

Or maybe she really did work just way too hard.

Either way, though, at least there were muffins!

He wasn't sure if he wanted to kiss his little technical analyst or kill her as he directed the NPCs guys he'd hired off the street for the day to bring in the merchandise. It was amazing that she'd managed to get everything bought and delivered at exactly the right time and on the right day, but there was still so much to do. Thankfully, the interior had already contained most of what he'd needed to set up shop and the place was clean; repair enough old houses and you get a certain appreciation for a bug, rat, mice and feral-cat free place.

Now it was just a matter of installing the sign and getting the merchandise stowed. The guys were taking care of the latter, so the former fell to him.

"Fun times," he muttered, if only to himself, as he started up the ladder.
