It was a new day and there was no better way to start a new day than with the continuation of the carnival. There was still snow coating the ground but the atmosphere was as lively as ever. With cream-colored decorations and twinkling lights, the Student Council had aimed for a winter wonderland kind of theme, and the snow simply added to the effect. Thankfully, the day was turning out to be warmer, so those who were going to be outside all day wouldn't freeze. Once the finishing touches were done, the carnival was open for business.

During the night, Fandom had been covered in a blanket of fresh snow that was just thick enough to turn everything crisp and white. After making a brief stop to check on her dear friend, Harper arrived at her designer dress shop. She had several of her special occasion dresses that she wanted to finish before Hurley's wedding this evening. One of the dresses was for her, and the rest were for some of her upscale clients.

There was evidence of her handiwork in the store window, where mannequins were dressed in very elegant, tasteful evening gowns.

It was the day before graduation. The day before pomp and circumstance, diplomas, smiling seniors and proud guests. What better way to spend that day then partying the night away? That's right, tonight was the night of the senior lock in! Many NPC workers had been busy in town, cleaning up and setting up an abandoned warehouse for the event.

Now, the front of the warehouse was lit up with neon signs and stanchions that would lead the seniors into a huge building where not one speck of floor space wasn't being used for something fun. There was loud music pumping through the building and strobe lights were swirling around the area, lighting up the room in blues, reds, greens, yellows and various other colors. Decorations of all kinds painted the walls, giving the room a party like atmosphere.

Of course, it would just be a regular ole party, right? Nothing surprising would happen, right? Oh, of course. No surprises. Riiiiiight.

The senior lock in was open and it was time for the seniors to get their party on!

[Posted early for super duper SP! This is for seniors only. OCD is good to go! Have fun! Comments are off so, if you need me, ping the OOC thread or email me!

Ronon had made two promises for today that sort of didn't go together, but he was gonna make it work or make Sheppard learn to deal.

"Hmm, this will do," Mary Sue informed her father, smoothing the bow in her hair. "At least it's not dark and sandy like that terrible basement place."

Great, he had the semi-approval of his fake kid, Ronon could die happy.

As far as tea parties went, it was almost nice. Ronon had messaged his detention victim to bring the tea and he'd set up some kid-sized tables and chairs next to the playground in the park. It was his attempt to guarantee Mary Sue stopped earning cash off her mom and throwing fits about doing his hair.

If it rained and he was stuck indoors with this kid all day, Ronon was going to have his own fit.

Waking up this morning to kids, wasn't as surprising as one might think. Finding out he had a kid with Chris, was shocking. Still, after a handwavey phone call to Chris and Summer, asking them to meet up at the beach, he was pretty calm as he watched his kids play. It wasn't a perfect day, weather wise, but it would do. Keeping the kids busy and out of trouble was his main objective.

Summer and Savannah were a little lost. Their wagon was missing, likely stolen by bandits, and now it looked like the pond river was going to flood.

"Were not even going to make it to Independence Rock," Summer pouted, staring at the river.

The gremlin venom had worn off hours ago but Marshall still hadn't taken off the makeup or the changed out of his Wrestlemania outfit. Partially because he was too busy getting drunk and partially because he thought he looked like a badass.

Anyone walking into the Perk would see Johnny Storm and Chris Halliwell sitting at a table, sharing a late breakfast.

Which wasn't that unusual.

However, anyone getting close enough to overhear their conversation would immediately realize that something weird was going on.

Arrivals to town hall would notice that the Student Council took a darker approach to the decorations this year. The colors of the streamers, balloons and table cloths were in shades of dark red and black. Instead of cut outs of hearts and pictures of cupid, there were broken mirrors hanging on the walls, open umbrellas scattered about the room, fake cobwebs on the wall and glittery cut outs of the number "13" hung everywhere.

You even had to walk under a huge ladder in order to get into the dance.

Sure, they were tempting fate by having a Friday the 13th themed dance but this was Fandom. What's the worst that could happen?

Chris was kind of afraid to go back to his dorm room. He wasn't sure if Summer was going to stab him with a fork or not.

And since it was too early for the bar, he opted to head to the Perk and indulge in coffee. Lots of strong coffee.

Feeling restless in the dorms, Meg decided to take advantage of the nice evening and go exploring in town. Since the evening was cool, she decided to stop by the coffee shop she'd heard and see what they offered. A few minutes later, she took a seat at one of the tables to enjoy her pumpkin latte and the latest issue of Newsweek.

Reading about this election cycle was fascinating.

Blair didn't have ice to work with this time, but she tried to do what she could with the location she had. Luckily the beach was pretty. Besides, too much gold in the decorations tended to cross the line into tacky.

So she kept the decorations to twinkling gold lights and candles. Most of the linens were a crisp white, with golden napkins and table runners to provide pops of color.

The bulk of the gold went into the food. There were brandied apricots, lemon and chocolate cheesecakes, mango sorbets, small cups of saffron vanilla pudding, miniature stuffed yellow peppers, and any number of foods that followed the theme, along with the pies that Ned had made.

Drinks were mixed, but naturally included Goldschläger, as well as coffee and cocoa decorated with tiny gold letters which said things like "Fandom" or "Goodbye Summer."

Blair had staked out a prime table with a view of the water. She sipped at a passionfruit martini, listened to the music coming out of the various speakers she'd had set up, and looked forward to a night of judging watching the crowd.

She was also going to make sure nobody served those skunks. Clearly they didn't know how to hold their liquor.

See, had Lacey been back home in Canada and faced with a sudden influx of kids in town, she would have ordered in a bunch of Kinder Surprise, but apparently there was a whole issue with tiny toys in candy in the United States.

Not that this sort of thing, the child invasion, happened in Dog River, or in Toronto for that matter. Probably a good thing, although she couldn't help wishing Davis got subjected to a sudden horde of small children.

What? It would be funny.

She did, however, have a stack of construction paper and boxes of crayons at the counter today; she hadn't had enough advance notice to order coloring placemats.

Lacey just really hoped nobody came in with balloons. She was terrified of balloons.

It wasn't necessarily the way that Chris would have chosen to spend the first weekend he and Summer were officially together, but it was definitely good anyway.

After feeding the kids and spending some time hanging around the dorms, Chris and Summer decided that a picnic in the park would be a great idea for dinner. The kids could run around and burn off some energy and maybe they'd run into some other people.

They made a handwavy stop for groceries and spread a blanket in the grass.

"They are way too cute," Chris said to Summer.

Not far from where the Skeleton Tea had been held earlier in the day, there was a tent that had been erected, with thiny, gauzy material and bone-like poles. Not dirty. The lights were soft as the evening grew darker, casting a welcoming, yet vaguely spooky illumination on the proceedings.

The proceedings of PROM.

One side of the tent was open, backing against a grove of trees; there were a few lights among them, but for the most part they offered shadowy nooks for anyone who wished to be a bit apart from the main action. The rest of the tent was enclosed, save for the entrance, and the same skeletons who'd worked the Tea earlier were at the refreshments table, ready and willing to serve any students or chaperones who approached. At one end of the table was the ballot box for prom court voting.

The music was just getting started, and the dance floor was yet to fill up, but regardless, Fandom High Prom 2008 was underway!

Caritas, Sunday

Anders, as soon as he'd taped up the zombies, gotten everything ready, and opened Caritas for the night, was nibbling on sponge cake behind the bar.

He kind of felt like he was missing something. Though he didn't manage to pinpoint that something as "watching the sun bake all of those tourists covered with oil."

Oh well.
[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com
Another weekend, another bout of weirdness Anders had missed out on completely. Pity his weekends seemed to start out in this state of blissful unawareness that inevitably ended up completely dashed on Sunday nights, didn't it?

That was why Tino had taken to stashing a separate bottle of booze beneath the bar on Sunday nights. Just in case.

Not because he was being nice to Anders -- just because he wanted to be able to mock Anders for having to resort to it, see.

[[OOC ETA: Guys, a million apologies, but I'm crashing fairly soon and am too tired to keep up any more. Will try and pick up pings in the morning, or just assume Anders got distracted with other WTFery because it is INSANITY in the bar.]]

Chris still wasn't certain where he was or why he was there, but it had to do with saving his brother from turning evil. Because that was his mission and that was why he had come back in time. And even if he had let himself get distracted by that girl, Summer, he had a job to do.

And he needed coffee to help him do it. Which is why he was at the Perk this morning, sitting at a table and flipping through his notebook.

Kabuto was writing down everything from earlier that afternoon. Seeing people dressed up as "cowboys" was really too funny to go undocumented. The bar had been completely cleaned before he sat down to write, and Musubi was over on her side looking polite-yet-menacing. She was good at that.

The memorial service was held on the flat hilltop overlooking the ocean, and at its edge rested an old-fashioned wooden boat, worn and weathered. There were chairs for those still too weak to stand and four torches, burning steadily, set in the ground at the four cardinal points. The day was bright and clear, a light breeze blowing out to sea, but despite that, the torches never flickered.

Karal, dressed in formal robes of black and gold, stood in front of the boat, waiting patiently while people arrived.

When everyone had settled, he stepped forward and began to speak. )

A rather subdued Chris was behind the bar. It was hard for him to reconcile everything that had happened over the last week, from finding out that Savannah was apparently his first charge as a Whitelighter to attending the memorial service for one of his classmates.

But he knew that life went on and he was ready to mix drinks or make conversation with any patrons who happened to come by this evening.

Doogie was not at all happy about how the emergency clinic looked when he came in. Christian was upset when he found out one of the kids had died the day before and was pissed at himself for taking the day off. The island had been through a lot while he'd been here, but one of the kids dying was unacceptable. He was frustrated by his inability to reach anyone outside the island. No ordering more supplies, no consulting with contagious disease experts. If it had only been the adults sick he might have been trying to head for the hills to save his own ass, but he wasn't about to abandon the kids. They had to find a way to stop this. Especially because now a baby was sick.

Chris had been aware of a headache building all day. He just couldn't figure out what was causing it, so he showed up to open the Devil's Nest as usual.

Partway through the evening, a sharp pain shot through his head and he was filled with the overwhelming sense that something was wrong. He went into the back room and closed his eyes, trying to get a handle on what it was. And he realized that Savannah was in trouble. He didn't know how he knew, but he did.

So he left Musubi to man the bar and orbed to where he sensed Savannah.

Wyatt and Chris didn't have any family arriving on the island since their grandfather couldn't make it -- which was probably a good thing, considering how he felt about things like magic. So they avoided the festivities and headed over to Pizza Planet for a bite to eat.

Wyatt wasn't feeling kind of mopey about not having parents there. Not at all.

Chris set out the refreshments for any patrons who stopped by and then settled in with a few books behind the counter.

They were totally not books with advice on dating.

Really.

After a handwavy pizza dinner, Chris and Savannah headed over to Fast Eddie's.

Chris was a little late for work because Prue had kept getting distracted by birds and squirrels and blowing leaves as they walked from the dorm to the store.

"This is where I get all my caffeinated goodness," Summer explained to Pancakes as they walked into the Perk.

Pancakes grinned. "What should I get?"

"Whatever you want," Summer replied. She had her dad's credit card after all. "I'm gonna get a caramel macchiato."

"I'll have one of those, too," Pancakes decided. Summer nodded, ordered their drinks, and wandered back over with two caffeinated beverages.

"It's good," Pancakes said after taking a sip. "When do I get to talk to Shawn?"

"He'll be here soon, I think. I left him a message to meet us," Summer said, taking a sip.

Pancakes smiled brightly. "I want to thank him for purchasing me for you."

Summer nearly choked on her macchiato. Pancakes certainly didn't mean to make it sound like Shawn purchased a hooker. Really.

"Are you all right, Summer?" Pancakes asked, her voice full of concern.

"Yep, fine. All good," she said quickly. "Enjoy your caffeine."
