Originally, this was going to be a much smaller event, but then Fandom had to be Fandom and Portalocity had to be Portalocity, and now Zoe was wondering if there would be enough food for everyone or if she'd have to get things from the local restaurants.

For the moment though, everything was set up nicely. There were tables and chairs set up with blue and gold tablecloths, each covered with glitter from years of use. There were balloons, streamers, and other slightly tasteful decorations, also covered in glitter from years of being stored with things that were also covered in glitter. Don't worry, no one had died from a glitter overdose yet.

Once the food was set out and the (non-tainted) punch was ready, it seemed like things were as good to go as they'd ever be. If things got too crowded, hopefully a fire marshal wasn't among the folks who had come back to town.

With the coming winter season, Fraser was spending today outside closing up the pool. While he knew that some people might be cold weather swimmers, he figured the majority were not and didn't want any accidents happening because he'd left the pool open all winter. He also didn't want to wake up and find people ice skating atop the frozen chlorinated water one morning.

Dief was happy to be outside and was bounding around the pool area, even jumping into the pool a few times which made Fraser laugh even if it interrupted his work. See, he wasn't completely stodgy and strict.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
Fraser was on the phone today. It wasn't a rare thing for him but what was rare was that the phone call was personal and he was taking it during his working hours. But, Frannie had called and she'd been in a panic and he couldn't very well just tell her that he couldn't take the call.

So, Fraser was very patiently giving Frannie advice and listening to her vent. His work could wait while he helped a friend.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
Today, Fraser was doing some repair work. The doorknobs around the building were old and wearing down and Fraser had decided to replace them. He'd bought new doorknobs that seemed like they'd be durable and he'd made sure to read all the instructions so he'd properly install them. He was working in the lobby first, installing doorknobs on the office and the apartments and rooms down there.

Dief was following him around loyally but he was probably about as bored as a dog could be. Fraser wasn't bored but that's because he was a giant nerd who loved this stuff. He wasn't even wearing his uniform today which showed that he meant business with his maintenance work.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
It was quiet on the island with almost everyone gone. That wasn't going to stop Fraser from coming in and doing some paperwork that he hadn't been able to do previously. Dief would have preferred to be up in Canada right now but he was taking what he could get by curling up in one of the chairs and napping.

Fraser would have preferred to be in Canada too, honestly, but he was fine where he was. He was happy and content.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
A brand new month meant Fraser was busily working behind the desk. There was rent to collect and deposit, there were requisition forms that needed to be logged and sent out and there were maintenance orders to address. He probably wouldn't be looking up for awhile and really, Fraser preferred it like that. All this work didn't bother him one bit because he knew if he didn't do his job, the tenants might suffer and he was not going to allow that.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
It was shaping up to be a quiet day at MHA. Dief had worn himself out with a long run earlier so he was curled up in one of the lobby chairs, sleeping soundly. Fraser was behind the desk, quietly working on some paperwork that needed to be completely before the end of the month. At times, he almost wanted to join Dief in a nap but he knew these had to be completed so the apartment could continue to run and new equipment could continue to arrive.

Still, a nap sounded so good.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
It was a quiet day at MHA. Dief was sleeping curled up in one of the lobby chairs, oblivious to the entire world. His life was a good one filled with sleep, food, running around, and more sleep. He was truly a spoiled deaf wolf.

Fraser was behind the desk, working on some paperwork that needed to be done for the apartment. He wasn't asleep and while his life was quite the good one, it wasn't filled with only sleeping, eating, food and running around. Still, he thought himself quite lucky anyway. His life was good.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
Today, Fraser was tidying up the lobby area. Yes, he knew he could kindly ask the janitor to do it but he wasn't doing anything and he didn't mind. The lobby was getting swept currently but Fraser had plans to mop the tiled areas, vacuum the carpeted areas and then dust everything that he could find.

Soon enough, this lobby area would be as impeccably groomed as his uniforms were and that would make Fraser quite pleased with things.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
Amazingly, Fraser didn't have any paperwork to complete today. He'd looked several times because he thought he'd missed something but no, he'd just completed it all previously and nothing new had come in recently.

So, Fraser had taken a seat in one of the comfortable lobby chairs with a book and a cup of cider. Yes, cider. Fraser was from the old school and he liked things like cider and warm milk.

Dief was curled up near Fraser's seat, getting in one of his many naps. A deaf wolf needed a lot of sleep especially on incredibly busy days like this.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
Fraser couldn't really believe it was September already. The summer was nearly over which meant winter was fast approaching. Fraser was sitting behind the lobby desk, going through rent checks and other beginning of the month documents that needed to be filed and finished today.

Once again, Diefenbeker was utterly bored with all this. He was sitting just outside the front door (which Fraser had propped open) and was sunning himself in the still warm weather. Fraser wanted to go out and join him at times but he was determined to finish what he'd started. Once he was done, then there'd be leisure time.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
Fraser was quietly working on some rental agreements and tenant suggestions today at work. The rental agreements were being tweaked for verbiage and the tenant suggestions were things Fraser was hoping to implement at some point in the future.

Diefenbaker thought all this was boring and was currently sleeping near the front door. He might have even been snoring.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
Fraser wasn't really sure what to make of the current surroundings. It was interesting, that was for definite, but it was slightly off putting too. Fraser was used to colors, vibrant and dull, and having everything just be colorless was...strange.

Dief didn't seem to mind and was happily trotting around oblivious to things. Fraser was sitting behind the desk, scrawling things down in a notebook and occasionally looking something up for research purposes on the computer. The lack of color wasn't going to stop him from doing his work.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
With the trouble of last week now over, Fraser had the door to the apartments open and was letting the fresh air filter in. Dief was running around outside, chasing something or other while Fraser sat behind the desk, getting caught up on some paperwork.

Later, he thought about asking Robin to actually go into the theme park since he'd never been. He already knew he'd look completely out of place but he wanted to take advantage while he could.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
Fraser had left Diefenbaker with Robin today because it made him feel a little more comfortable about leaving with him there. With the horde of dogs and Robin's guns, he figured anything deformed and aggressive would be hard pressed to get into their apartment and survive.

He'd come into work to check on the state of the apartment building and its tenants. He noted the dying plant life and the grotesque animals off in the distance. Fraser didn't tend to carry a gun but he almost felt like he should have been today.

Still, he was safely behind the front desk and the front door was locked to prevent anything from forcing its way in.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
Fraser was sitting behind the desk, looking through a few files that he'd found wedged behind the filing cabinet. Honestly, he had to wonder about the sanity of the last landlord with things like this in his hand. Occasionally, he'd shake his head or groan but otherwise was quiet.

Dief was curled up asleep near the front door after thoroughly enjoying the snow that was still outside.

[Open but assume SP with LJ's issues. No OCD. Don't even think this will post.]
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
Fraser loved the weather. If it was possible, Dief might have loved it even more. He loved feeling like he was back in the Yukon, smelling the crisp air and feeling the wet snow flakes falling onto his cheeks.

Dief had bounded along during the walk to MHA and even now, Fraser had let him stay outside to trot around in the snow and generally just enjoy himself. He hadn't had the chance to be a wolf in a long, long time and Fraser wasn't going to take that away from him.

Fraser was standing near the door, watching Dief play. It was a rare thing, him not working but he felt the gorgeous weather called for it. He was in his natural habitat, of course he was excited.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
With the weather looking threatening, Fraser was back inside and back behind the desk today. Dief was trotting around the lobby, checking to see if there was anything knew to investigate while Fraser looked through various document, requisition forms, maintenance forms and other odds and ends.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
Fraser was outside today, giving the pool a good scrubbing. It was true there were people that he could hire to do this but the weather was pleasant and he liked being outside so he decided to do it himself. He scrubbed down the loungers and tables, dusted the umbrellas and ignored Dief when the wolf jumped into the pool to get himself wet.

"You're not coming inside like that," Fraser told him eventually, giving him a look. Dief just kept swimming happily. "You will track water everywhere and Robin will blame it on me and I'll have to blame you."

Dief just kept on paddling around and Fraser shook his head before going back to cleaning.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
There were set to be new arrivals this weekend so Fraser was busily prepping the apartments for new residents. He'd hung a welcome sign outside, tasked a few local townspeople to clean the pool outside and was getting lease and rental paperwork ready to be filled out should anyone need an apartment in the next few days.

Dief was not helping at all. He was curled up in one of the lobby chairs, watching all the happenings and occasionally trying to get one of the people helping Fraser to give him some food. He hadn't yet been successful.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
Fraser missed winter. He couldn't really think all that badly of a place as beautiful as the one the island had landed in but he missed snow and he missed feeling like Canada was just a few steps away. Fraser wasn't really built for warm weather.

He was sitting behind the desk, typing away on the computer while Dief prowled around the lobby, looking for something to do or eat. He was coming up short on both ends.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
It was a quiet day in the lobby of MHA. Dief, as usual, was curled up near the door, sleeping soundly. Fraser sometimes envied his ability to be as lazy as he was and not worry about things that needed to be done.

Fraser was behind the desk, absently writing a few things down in some files while he read over a textbook on tenant rights. Being a landlord was not always an easy thing and he wanted to make sure he knew all the intricacies of what he was doing now.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
Fraser wasn't sure what to think of the island's new location. On the one hand, it was nice that the rain had stopped. On the other, he had an incredible urge to go out and explore and that was dampened when he had to work today. He loved working, he loved giving back but it was hard to resist just leaving early so he could go explore and see history unfolding live before his eyes.

Diefenbaker didn't much care for history but he did love comfortable chairs so that's where he was curled up right now. Fraser was busy sweeping up the lobby and watering the plants. It gave him a good opportunity to daydream.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
It was a new month which meant more paperwork than usual for Fraser. There was rent to file, leases to look over and acquisition forms to out through. Fraser, head down, was busily working on getting all the beginning of the month things completed.

Dief was curled up in a chair, sleeping and snoring. He had the better life.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
The constant rain was making even Fraser a little more subdued than usual. It was hard to get yourself energized and motivated when you were just going to get soaked if you stepped outside. That didn't stop Fraser was from arriving on time, of course, but he was shaking his coat and hat off and Dief was shaking the rain off of his fur before immediately going to find some place dry to lay down.

Fraser let him go and wandered around the desk to go on about his day. Maybe the rain would stop at some point today. He didn't think so but he could hope.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
The island had moved again. That meant that Fraser's uniforms were entirely too hot during the walk over from his apartment to MHA. By the time he and Dief had arrived, Fraser was thankful for the invention of central air conditioner. He settled his hat on the counter and got to work filing a few errant pieces of paperwork while he cooled down.

Dief took up a spot on the cold tile floor, stretching out and taking complete advantage of being inside a nice, cooled down lobby. Fraser gave him a look and shook his head in amusement before going back to filing.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
Fraser felt refreshed and energized after Miss Cabot's class last night. It was fun to take a class again and especially enjoyable to learn about something he'd studied but never quite that in depth. That was enough to put a smile on his face as he took up a spot behind the counter. He had a notebook and a few textbooks open on the desk so he could leisurely read them in between completing other apartment necessities.

Dief was enjoying the bigger area by trotting around the lobby and sniffing out new things. Fraser knew he wouldn't be marking his territory or anything like that but Fraser knew he wanted to know the lay of the land so he left Dief wander, content that the wolf would come back when he was satisfied.
[identity profile] canadianpopstar.livejournal.com
Tonight, Robin had a new obsession. No, it was not anything drink-related. How dare you suggest she actually do work at work? That was what Tino was for.

No, tonight Robin was leaning on the bar, her thumbs busily flicking across the screen every couple seconds. Occasionally, her efforts were punctuated with a, "Yes, finally." More often, though, there was a frustrated sigh heaved and an exclamation in the vein of, "STUPID GREEN PIGS WITH YOUR STUPID HELMETS."

"It doesn't even make sense," she added, after Tino kept staring at her for a particularly colorful outburst. "Why the hell would they want to take these birds' eggs? They have bombs. Dumb idea, green pigs. Dumb."

[...who, me, stuck on Angry Birds? Where?]
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
With the most recent semester completed, Fraser found himself with free time. He'd decided against teaching for the first summer semester so he found himself in the lobby of MHA. The place hadn't had a proper landlord since the last one had left and Fraser decided to try and clean up the dust and unorganized files that were laying around. In actuality, things didn't look too bad but that didn't mean it didn't need a bit of a spit shine.

Serge off and sleeves rolled up, Fraser was wiping down various counters and cabinets, removing the dust and straightening the furniture that was decorating the lobby. Soon enough, things started looking shinier and Fraser set to work on organizing the various files and documents behind the desk.

Some would rejoice, others would cry, and a good chunk of Fandom's population would probably wind up with mixed feelings. This portal had brought the children onto the island but two nights ago, and now it had reversed the polarity of the neutron flow returned to take them back.

It floated calmly in the middle of the park's clearing, exuding a soft yellow light. It wouldn't steer the children wrong.

Say your goodbyes, Fandom... for the year.

And thus began Parents' Weekend. It was an overcast day but the rain had long since tapered off. Just in case, tents had been erected all around the park to protect from the potential for wet stuff. No one needed their guest showing up cranky because they'd been rained on.

There were tables and tables of all sorts of food and drinks. There was something for everyone. The Student Council had spared no expense. Blue and gold tables and chairs were also spread out underneath the tents, giving guests and islanders a place to sit down and chat or sit down and eat or something to hide under.

A registration table stood near the front of the setup where guests could check in and get a nametag. A banner adorned the edges of the tents proclaiming:

WELCOME TO PARENTS' WEEKEND 2010

Fraser was back on the island today as a married man. So far, things had gone brilliantly even with the speedbump of having to stay in a cabin for the duration of the bug infestation. He was taking that better than Robin.

Fraser was standing at the edge of the garden today, talking with some NPC landscaping crew. The garden was almost completely planted but there were still some areas around the perimeter and here and there that needed to be filled in and seeded.

That was the job for today. It was time to become green thumbs and get those flowers into the ground!
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
The new month wasn't going to bring a lot of changes to the community project. They'd moved back to the garden and were spending today both planting new flowers in the very large lot space and tending to the ones that were already planted. Watering, seeding, mulching, and landscaping were all on the agenda for today.

There were various pieces of gardening equipment on a table near the lot and several seed packets for the flowers.

If it got too hot, Fraser wouldn't even mind if the workers used the hoses to their own advantage. Just don't spray him!
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
The NPC Landscaping Crew was still at the community center but Fraser had taken those that had been volunteering their time to various spots around town to do some more planting. With the summer season in full swing, today was all about replacing some older, dead plants and flowers with newer one. It was about weeding areas around the park, the preserve, and the streets that needed attention. So, put on your gloves and be prepared to get dirty. It was time to weed and plant and plant and weed!
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
The tents were still up as it was going to be another scorching, hot day and the NPC Landscaping Crew and the school administration didn't want to make anyone sick from the heat. With the trees planted and garden in progress, things were slowly beginning to look more decorative in the previously dirt filled lot.

Today, it was time to plant more trees. This time, they were going to line the perimeter of the actual community center to provide shade and decor to the building. There were several flowering saplings sitting near the lot, ready to be planted. Take care with the trees as their young and delicate. Make certain they get watered and situated safely and go back and do it again!
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
It was going to be a hot day and, as such, the NPC Landscaping crew had thought ahead and had erected a few tents over the garden area so people wouldn't swelter. They'd still have to battle the heat but the sun would be less intense.

The trees that had been planted last week were now being tended to and today's job was back to planting flowers in the garden. The lot was large, giving the workers a lot of room to plant. The NPC Landscaping crew was hopeful for variety and a lot of pretty colors.

They weren't a fickle bunch.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
The lot near the community center was bustling with activity this morning. Despite the holiday being yesterday, everyone was awake and not showing any signs of being too full, too burned on fireworks or too hungover. That was a good thing since today, there were trees being put in.

Several small flowering trees were situated away from the lot, waiting to be planted. There were landscapers tending to the ground and digging the holes and it was up to those working the project today to get the trees planted and situated. It would be strenuous work but ultimately rewarding.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
Even though it was a break week, Fraser was still out supervising the community project. Work didn't stop just because classes did, after all. The gardeners and landscapers were in the lot near the community center today, getting started on the very large garden that was due to be started there.

Landscaping supplies were piled neatly on the outside of the lot and there were already people hard at work planting flowers and laying down mulch. It was a nice day, the sun was shining and it wasn't oppressively hot.

It was a good day to be outside.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
With the community center finished, a new community project was needed. This time, the administration had decided to go in a more...decorative direction. It was time to beautify the island! Currently, landscapers and gardeners were set up in the park, replanting some of the flowers that hadn't made it through the winter and planting new ones.

There were packets of seeds on the benches along with piles of gardening equipment. Everyone was going to be working in and around the park today, planting flowers that along the various sidewalks and in the flowerbeds. It was going to be a warm day so water and shade was provided for when the workers needed to take breaks.

So, dig in and prepare to get a green thumb!
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
As the sun started to set, the lights officially came on at the new community center! The building was now complete, its walls gleaming and solid in the waning light. As people began to arrive, they would notice decorations lining the tiled and bright corridors, leading them towards the large auditorium where the dance was being held.

Once inside the auditorium, there were more decorations. Streamers in the colors of summer hung from the rafters and painted the walls. There were fresh flowers in every corner and on every table, bringing fragrance and festiveness to the room. The lights were low in the auditorium, dimmed to provide both mood and setting to this party in the evening.

There were several long tables stocked full with foods of all kinds and there was even a bar with an expert bartender who'd be happy to serve you. Tips were welcome but not mandatory. Large speakers hung in the corners of the room, installed to provide the latest and greatest sound system to the new building.

Everything was completed, everything was ready so it was time to enjoy yourselves!

[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
The community center almost looked complete. The walls and roof were installed, the doors and windows had been put in over the weekend so now the brunt of the work was being done inside. There was painting, electrical work, tiling, carpeting, furniture moving, plumbing, and lighting on the schedule today. With the community center scheduled to open this Saturday, the NPC Construction Crew was working diligently to get it up to standard.

Hard hats and goggles were required today. Safety first!
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
Despite the heat of last week, the NPC Construction crew had managed to get the framework of the community center up. It half looked like a building now. There were walls being installed now along with several other odds and ends both inside and outside those walls. The heat wasn't quite so bad today but there was plenty of water for those that wanted it.

Hard hats and safety goggles were required, once again!
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
Due to the holiday and the player's vacation, Fraser hadn't been out at the site on Monday. He was out there now, letting this serve as his regularly scheduled office hours for the week. The foundation had been laid and now the framework of the rooms was going up. There were supplies to be moved, things to be held and a messy day to be had.

Safety goggles and protective gear was a must!
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
Construction had been going smoothly since the groundbreaking the previous week. There was progress being made and the NPC Construction Company had moved in a lot of supplies over the past few days, stacking them and getting them ready to be added to the new building. Foundation, of course, would come first since the ground had already been prepared.

Hard hats, goggles and tool belts were required and it was going to be hard, sweaty work but it'd be rewarding. The Community Center would be all the better for it.

Fraser was out there as well, supervising those from the town that might come out to help. He was more a point of contact and someone to ask questions to rather than a supervisor. He was in his safety gear as well and helping move supplies.
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
It seemed appropriate that on today, of all days, there seemed to be flowers everywhere. Fraser had woken up to them in the coffee pot, in the dog food and growing out of the pockets in his serge. Now, as he prepared to break ground on the new community center, they were surrounding the work site, sticking out of the pockets of various townspeople and singing delightedly while they did. It was fitting.

The land around 27 Chimera had been cleared, giving it a flat, empty look. That would soon change. With one dig of his shovel and a few smiles, ground was broken on the brand new community center! It was one of the bigger undertakings the town had taken on recently and there was a lot of excitement about it. The NPC Construction Crew wasn't going to waste any time and immediately got started once people had dispersed a bit from the work site.

Construction had officially begun! In a few weeks, everyone on the island would be able to utilize a brand new facility for whatever they might like!
[identity profile] just-add-starch.livejournal.com
With the ceremony completed and the graduated officially done with their high school careers, a brunch had been planned to celebrate the occasion and allow graduates, their guests, and the other inhabitants of the island to enjoy some good food and good conversation outside. The weather was warm and the sky was clear.

Fraser had been busy helping set up since the early morning hours. Apparently, Dean Stinson had gone a little overboard with some of the food, particularly the cake. The huge sheet cake arrived via truck and, where Fraser thought he'd be able to carry it, ended up having to use a forklift to get it to the park. From there, it took several people to lift the cake onto a table of its own. It was that big. Fraser hoped everyone enjoyed and hoped everyone was prepared to take a lot of cake home.

There were also several other tables of food and drinks, ready to be enjoyed. There were tables and chairs situated around the park, covered by tents to keep it from becoming too warm.

And there was cake. Please don't forget the cake.

As the night went on, an assortment of prom favours were replacing the masks on the table just inside the tent. Everyone was free to take a picture frame and disposable camera to record their own Prom memories. Also were shot glasses with the Fandom High gremlin on them. Such things happened when Dean Stinson was the Student Council advisor.

The punch was thoroughly spiked by now, but the dessert table had been refilled o soaking up all that alcohol was a definite possibility. The music would still be playing for a few hours for all to get in as much dancing and time to be with their friends as they wanted.

And in just a moment, Dean Stinson was going to announce the Prom Court.

Town Hall was all decked out in harvest theme with this being so close to Halloween and all. Pumpkins and squash and random corn! The corn, people! Think of the corn! But please, for the love of all that is holy, don't allow your children near it. Especially not the creepy gingers.

There was plenty of food and punch--not yet spiked--set to the side of the spacious room. Which left plenty of space for the general mulling about that kids were so fond of these days. Or dancing. And even the occasional dark bits in which to lurk. Have a fun homecoming, kiiiiids and remember to vote!

Barney was smart and had purposefully blocked all outgoing mail from Fandom to his New York City (sorry, no luck for you, Robin) and so could blissfully oversee the gathering of guests, students, teachers, and townies happening in the park. The day was bright and sunny, regardless of what any weather reports might claim.

The Student Council had done a nice job getting things together to greet the visitors. A wide variety of sumptuous food was spread out on long tables at one end of the park. In the center were plenty of comfortable blue and gold tables and chairs perfect for sitting, chatting, and eating. To the other end of he park was the registration table where visitors could sign in and pickup their name tags.

Just above the registration area was a gaudy banner announcing the start of a calm and relaxing weekend. Okay, a weekend where Barney got a lot of popcorn to listen to radio.

Robin figured tonight would be busy to a ridiculous degree, given how many people were going to want to be drinking after waking up, or in celebration...or whatever. That being said, she wasn't exactly willing to have Benton out of her sight so soon after getting him back.

So they'd taken the dogs back to their apartment and tucked them in, and when they'd gotten to the bar (hand-in-hand, which caused Tino to make little gagging faces and Robin to subsequently throw a dish of peanuts at him), Robin'd set him up on a barstool where she could keep an eye on her newly-uncomatose boyfriend.

That being said, she was already checking her stock of vodka, tequila, and whiskey. There would probably be some shots being done tonight.
