The ballroom is beehive of activity as CopCon opens for the first day! A banner over the entrance reads:

"Greetings Members of the Law Enforcement Community!

As the guests arrive for the first day of the conference they'll note a sign-in area for registration and a place to mingle, eat and get cocktails before the panels and workshops kick off tomorrow.

[OOC: OCD is up! All guest applications have been approved. Workshops start tomorrow!]

Of course the power would be back on and running and fine for when Cal's shift came around Friday, giving him absolutely no excuse to skip out on work. That was just his luck, wasn't it?

In all honesty, though, he couldn't really say he minded too much. He just hoped that convention in town didn't mean an increase of foot traffic and he could just spend most of the day reading over his part for the play.

Today's Specials
Moussaka
Saganaki
Amigdalota

And, at some point during the day, the entrance to the diner was flanked with expressively sick and terrified snowmen, to serve as harbingers of warning for those who may day to enter and eat.

Oh, the things Cal did just to not be bothered at times.

Luke's is open!

Sure, there was some work to be done when Chad got to the store on Friday. But none of that seemed to be as important to him as figuring out exactly what was wrong with the sound system. It seemed that no matter what mix, what CD, what anything he put into it, it would play just fine for a little bit, stop, broadcast this really weird Doink doink sound and then play really dramatic music, like the kind of stuff people either made a scene to or made really dramatic interrogations or court room revelations to.

So weird. Chad almost hoped he'd get some customers today just so he could take a break from trying to fix the damn thing.

Groovy Tunes is open!

Mary had never been more grateful to have the power and heat back. It freed her up to deal with other matters, like nagging Gunther until he added the has browns to the brunch buffet. Then, when someone requested pie, she went back to nag him some more until a pie appeared on the buffet.

She also made sure to put up enough signs directing convention guests to the main ballroom.

Welcome to the Arms Hotel!

Arya opened up the shop, quite happy to find that the power was back. Sure, she was used to living without power in Ellesméra -- Fandom, not so much.

It had taken a few days of work and planning, but the power infrastructure had been searched and the weak link had been found. The reroute had just been put into place. Now they were watching.

A switch was thrown.

Nothing happened.

For about a minute.

And then suddenly the lights went on everywhere, all at once, casting its happy artificial yellow rays over the streets of Fandom once again. Bringing joy and warmth and electric razors to all who might crave them (well, and coffee, that black liquid of life).

It was a good day for Fandom crisis management. A few hats got thrown into the air. Respectfully.

[ and the power is back! ]

Jen wasn't at work today, though the pizza parlor was open.

Look, in between slinging pizzas and going to a law enforcement convention, it wasn't the pizza-slinging she saw as the top priority duty, okay?

Today's Special
Free slice of pizza to all convention attendees!

[OOC: Yes, moddable service by default today, natch. And you can totally claim you're law enforcement just to get a free slice of pizza even if you're not. *g*]

There was power! There was heat.

Viki was ridiculously cheerful about this as she went about cleaning around the shop, singing along with the radio. (Though it should be noted that half her singing was merely guessing at the lyrics.) She still had several blankets that she’d teleported in with draped over the counter.

They were there in case things got cold again. Viki was well prepared!

Liir was glad that the power was on, even though it hadn't really bothered him all that much. After hearing about things on the radio last night, though, he was worried about Amber and wondering if she was all right; he planned to see if he could skip out for a few minutes to check on her. At the moment, though, he was behind the counter, neatening up and making sure everything was in place. After all, with no lights on, who's to say things were put back where they belonged?

Harper was dressed rather normally today, if you ignored all the ruffles on her blouse and skirt even the ones on her tights. She was still a little rattled by Ronan telling her all about magic yesterday. Fortunately, she found a distraction a box of used kid's clothing. "I could make something really cool with all of this stuff," she mumbled as she went through it.

Things Reborn was open!

[And OCD-free.]

The power coming back on had been a welcome turn of events for Kaylee, who was getting rather sick of wearing eleventy-thousand layers to bed.

Plus, it made it easier to work with her hands, which was very handy for her today since she was once again taking apart car parts.

[fair warning that I will almost definitely require a nap this afternoon, but otherwise, am around!]

The exhibit was going and the town was just as weird as ever. About par for the course, really. So it wasn't surprising that Eve made her usual sweep through the exhibit before tucking herself away at the desk.

Hurley trekked through the snow, still feeling really dang good about himself. It was honestly a little unhealthy how much this stuff affected his self esteem. But today, there was a happy Hurley ready to sell you flowers.

Jenny was glad the power was back. It meant she wasn't going to have to spend her shift with her hand near a light socket to make sure the power, and therefore the heat, stayed on. She celebrated her somewhat-unexpected mobility by rearranging the mannequins to look vaguely dirty again.

Rikku wasn't late! She -- okay, she was kinda late. She'd been up pretty late talking, so maybe she slept in a little. Hooooopefully Cable hadn't noticed?

The Wellspring Arms and Meditation Center was open. And had been open all morning! Honest!

Jolee walked into the bar to see Tino standing there in a police officer's shirt, wearing a badge that said "Hot Cops." Tino would later explain that the previous owner of Caritas left it when he moved.

"And it didn't come with pants?" Jolee asked. Tino shrugged. "Go put on some pants."

[OOC: GOB's Hot Cops uniform modded with permission from me. I'll be pretty slow, so please mod Tino or show patience with me!]
