As bad ideas went, Lacey was a bit overdue for one. (It had been more than a couple of days, okay?) That could have been a serious threat to the the fabric of the universe, had she not been behind the counter paging through a catalog right now.

More importantly, paging through a catalog with that look in her eyes and the giant metaphorical halogen bulb over her head.

The kitchen guys were keeping a wide, wide berth. And muttering to themselves a lot, although everyone was giving the busboy a bit of a wide berth, too, what with all the half-mumbled complaints about why today wasn't tomorrow.

Today's Specials

Roasted Corn and Tomato Salsa
Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes
Minestrone

Now Hiring: Weekend Shifts Available!

Luke's is open -- and despite Lacey's metaphorical lightbulb it's not any brighter than usual in here today.

. . . because metaphorical.

With the law office now open, Lee's first day of actual work was now in front of him. Of course, he didn't expect too much to go down and, if it did, he was deferring it all to Mr. Murdock while he watched but it was still nice to be working. Maybe his father would even crack a smile when he told him.

Doubtful but sometimes hope was nice to have.

Still, the office was open, Lee was at the desk, paging through one of his grandfather's books and, somewhere, the lawyer jokes were just waiting to be used.

Joan was pleased that the weekend had passed so uneventfully.

She was at work today, setting up some new displays of flowers.

At work today, Teddy was looking up information on back issues of a few of the collections in stock.

And looking over the message boards. But that was all for work! Nothing fun there at all for him, thank you very much. Even if he was enjoying telling someone off for getting an issue number wrong.

The store was open and Worf was in the middle of trying to fix the communications circuits from his shuttle. During a diagnostic cycle last night it had picked up a radio station on the mainland and went into a loop playing the same song over and over again.

After the fifth time of hearing the female singer begging "Baby just say yes" the communications circuits were ripped from the console and smashed on the floor.

Some might say that the act of violence was pointless as Worf now had to fix what was broken.

Worf on the other hand believed it was justified destruction.

There were about 500 things that needed to be done at Pixie Dust. The stock had to be rotated, the overstock sent back to the manufacturers, and tax forms filled out and filed. And they were almost out of vodka, which meant it was time to go to the liquor store again, too.

None of which mattered to Romeo, who was enjoying the springlike weather by sitting in the shop doorway and scribbling away at a half-drafted poem in his notebook.

Pixie Dust, though, was open.

Any kind of distant concern he felt for Ben's safety had been wiped away for something more important. The IF was allowing Ender some space in getting through his correspondance, and he was going to take it.

He thought briefly of piggybacking something on the letter he was composing, something fiendish and clever and subversive to get himself back to Earth. But Earth was holding little appeal to him now. He wrote his email between tweaks of the system he was working on.

A ping alerted him to the fact he had a mail waiting from Val as well, and he stopped his work around lunch for a little while to read it.

Whatever bruises he did up last night were already long gone. Blame some augmented systems and an intimate knowledge of future technology for that one.

So Cable was back at work, and occasionally, a certain toddler would start waddling around on the floor making noises. "Deeeaaaahd."

"He's not here," he told her for the umpteenth time. "Hang on."

He should get Irene over here to babysit.

Despite having had a rather good week, Daisy was feeling a little disconnected when she came into work that morning, mostly out of a slight worry. When you made a habit out of certain things and then those things went unobtained, it was reasonable to be concerned, so even though she had her meditations at home, there was still just the fact that they were at home and not Wellspring.

Of course, once she settled in with a mug of bad coffee and went to her usual Monday morning task of transcribing radio for the records, she came across a little bit on Friday that might have very well explained Biff's absence at the store.

And it took everything she had not to just start laughing. She wondered if Loki was aware; she'd be calling him as soon as she was off duty to find out, too.

It was never really quiet in Groovy Tunes, with the music constantly being played over the sound system, but, this Monday, it was definitely still. Chad had, at one point, taken care of a few business tasks when he got in but, for the most part, he'd been behind the counter, barely moving, as if frozen in time with a contemplative look on his face. Truth was, he'd only been thinking, really, really hard, as if thinking that hard was so much effort that the rest of him just didn't have much to spare for doing much else.

Thinking, and then some more thinking, but not a lot of conclusions yet.

Occasionally, he snapped out of it, when Prince Oscar Pedro rubbed against his leg for attention or a customer came in, but, for the most part, Chad was mostly just thinky.

Saturday's detention had been better than Alex had expected. The idea of getting detention hadn't been a fun one, but it had turned out to be fun. Who knew?

She re-arranged a few things on the shelves, before settling behind the counter with a fashion magazine.

Bender had a tape measure and scales. Also, a fishing weight and a guide to Chinese opera; these were less relevent to the task at hand.

"About 2 by 1.8 metres," he told the cell phone propped up against where his ear wasn't. Bender nudged the horse next to him. "Weight?" He pushed again. No movement towards the scale. "I'll get back to you on that."

"What? No," Bender sounded offensively honest. "I wouldn't try to sell you..." A background snicker. "No. That ain't a horse. Would Honest-as-the-day-is-long Bender try to sell you horsemeat?"

The high pitched voice on the other end of the line had met Bender before didn't believe him. Vocally and loudly, with quite an impressive vocabulary, before he slammed shut the phone, sullenly muttering about ungrateful equines.

Tino was still mopey about the money he'd lost in some betting pool, the Zombies weren't helping much by gloating and Yondaime was going through a semi identity crisis that seems to involve learning to sew flowers and birds.

"Tino?" Yondaime asked in an attempt to get the man's mind off gambling. "Is it less gay for two guys to go to a sewing club thing together?"

Tino just stared and then started laughing.

"Apparently not." At least his mind was off the gambling.

Tony had not in the lab at all today. Nor had he spent much time in his apartment after a certain class had happened.

He wasn't hiding so much as spending time in places he normally wouldn't. Nothing wrong with that.

And the coffee was... decent.

The conversation Sokka and Apu were having might confuse the outsider.

"Okay, say it again."

"Nahasapeemapetilon."

"Nasha... No, wait. One more time."

"Nahasapeemapetilon!"

"Nahaspa... Can you write it down? That's really a NAME?"

"It is MY name!!!"

Needless to say, Bob was rolling her eyes and Liz was hiding under the counter.
