Yesterday had been one of those days for awkward conversation, apparently, and today Katchoo was largely subdued. When she wasn't drawing, she was reading her battered old copy of Elegant Waste, and when she wasn't doing that, she was staring distractedly out the window.

Not much thinking going on, though. Mostly distraction.

[OOC: OCD, post, and my brain all *fzzt*-ded from lack of sleep today. SP may be more S than usual.]

She felt restless today. Wandering through the store, Ino tried to put it off by fussing with her plants, and wiping down the display cases. It wasn’t really working, but at least she was doing something.

Really, that was the important part. She padded over to turn the radio up a little more and tried to let the beat of it convince her that, really, she was doing more than it felt like. After a while, she settled in to study.

Sigh. Another beautiful day with Shilo stuck in the gallery. "Oh well," she said, while sweeping, "at least last night was fun." She finished up earlier than usual, and wandered around for a bit, inadvertantly coming across the Sunday tea supplies. "Oooh!"

A few moments later, Shilo was back from a handwavy trip to T&C with lemons and a bag of ice, and had extra-strong tea brewing. As soon as the tea was done and cooling, she went to the desk and made a sign to put in the window.

Beat the heat with some iced tea and the air conditioned comfort of our gallery!

The York Gallery is open. Shilo settled in behind the desk with a glass of iced tea and began working on her creative writing story.

It seemed that Gunther's special for today was just a stew, so Valentine decided to go ahead and do well on her weekly German quiz, which left the chef very pleased and proud that she'd studied so hard to improve, and all she had to do was slice up a few things that didn't leave her reeking of dead fish and help throw them into a pot.

Still, she was glad once that was over and she could settle in with a book; she felt like some light reading today, and, really, this was light reading that might be pretty useful around here.

Rachel was actually looking forward to being in the lobby and working at the desk, if only because of the record player she'd picked up at the resale shop, now taking up a spot with all her papers and the never-used computer as she switched out a few records from a time where she had to hide them all under her mattress because her father would make her write Bible verses about the deviancy of music or some other stupid thing like that if he found them.

Jeez oh man, it took her back. She liked it. This way, she could almost pretend like Africa never happened at all.

Joan went through the motions of getting the shop ready to open up and taking care of the plants and flowers. She was worried about Rachel and her nightmare.

The shop was open, even if the worker was distracted.

After a quick trip by the library, Claire opened the shop and immediately began sorting through the new comics. She was kind of hoping for a new issue of Ninth Wonders to give her an idea of what might be in store for her in the future.

The sign was back in the window too.

Caritas - Wednesday

Behind the bar, Penelope watched the band while Tino busied himself with stocking umbrellas. It was a job and somebody had to do it.

People, Caritas is open.

Alex was in the office today, but she couldn't help the strange glances she kept giving her laptop. It had spent two days as a brunette who was practically a walking encyclopedia, and she didn't entirely trust it not to switch back at a moment's notice.

Yet again, Alex had to wonder if all of this was some sort of trauma-related hallucination, from the shooting. Maybe she was in Bellevue. Or Hell.

There was a small sign in the window that said Now Hiring. There were only a few shifts available, but maybe there would be some interest in filling them.

Gwynn was in a cheerful mood as she took care of the horses. She had been lucky to avoid the weekend's weirdness and she was glad she had. There were too many of her weapons that would have not lent themselves to being polite people.

She took the horses out for their rides and then let them out into the paddock. She gave them each a treat and then settled beneath one of the trees.

The Gig was open.

The Docks, Wednesday

Jack was -- surprise, surprise -- sitting on his boat, drinking beer, and fishing. This really was the life.

He'd discovered that the televisions on the island showed Wormhole X-Treme! from time to time, and was a little grumpy about it. Sure, he should have expected an interdimensional island to get interdimensional television, but still.

That was why the sign propped up on the dock now read:

Captain Jack's Wild Ride
Boat for hire

Serena showed up for her first shift at Luke's hoping she didn't look as nervous as she felt. Sure, she'd organized parties and functions back home for her friends and her class, but the closest she'd come to something like this was hiring a caterer. It wasn't at all in the same ball park.

Remembering what Lacey had told her about the cream soda wars, she poured a cup of the Canadian stuff. Huh. It really was pink.

Irulan brought coffee in and flipped the sign around. She was humming while she did so.

Irulan closed her shop for lunch and walked to the Chiang Tai with Jackie. Irulan had been looking forward to this lunch and it showed when she smiled. Irulan and Jackie entered the restaurant and the waiters led them to a table.

"I've never eaten here before," Irulan told Jackie. "But it seemed interesting when I passed by."

Groovy Tunes, Wednesday

Alice was late to the music store. She had thought it might be polite to stop by the woods and visit some with Leto's tree -- the Leto-tree, rather -- and had simply lost track of time.

She would have apologized to Chad, except that he was busy being a model on a television show.

Groovy Tunes, at any rate, was open.

(Late and OCD-free because today is a thinking-is-hard sort of day, zomg.)

After her class had finished first period Naomi made it to work so that she could set up for her shift. She made sure that everything was set up and organized before she opened.

Stark Industries is open.
