It just felt like a good day to chill and not do anything stressful, so Shelley pulled a chair over next to a low table of clearance sweaters and propped her feet up, sipped a fruity cocktail she had made from the goodies under the counter, and proceeded to work her way through a stack of fashion magazines.

"Love that," she said, flipping a page. "Oh, really love that." Flip. "Love LOVE that." Flip. "Holy cow, freaking love that." Flip...

As much as Alexander would have liked to have poured over some more of his maps from home or even spend the day sprucing up some mirrors or hutches, he was being very good and dedicated and studying for some of his more difficult exams to come. Most of them were certainly all the classes his mother had ensured that he had not been missing.

In a way, it was kind of nice. The shop was quiet and not at all busy, so he could sit there for long stretches of time without distraction, getting lost in learning. No back-breaking work. No worrying about being caught. No tutors or mothers harping on your progress or twin sisters trying to distract you into trouble.

And it certainly gained his confidence in doing well. Perhaps, if he proved successful this semester, his mother might be more willing to let him spend the summer traveling the multiverse for the Land of the Green Isles.

Still, he'd be wrong if he said a distraction every once in a while wouldn't be nice...

It was EASTERTIME!!!!

Hank busied himself decorating the store with all kinds of streamers, and cardboard cutouts of bunnies and chicks, and candy, and fake grass, and pastel colors, and EVERYTHING. He even put bunny ears on the panda.

And then he went scurrying around the store, hiding little plastic eggs full of candy.

Today's Squishy flavors: Chocolate, Egg Custard, Grape Judas

The staff was a little stunned when Lion-o asked if he could help out in the kitchen today. He usually avoided going into the kitchen at the diner since the cook had been terrified of him, but Lion-o was starting to miss using some of the culinary skills he had picked up at his previous job.

Today's Specials
Pan-Roasted Sizzling Shrimp
Herb Salad with Feta, Roasted Red Peppers and Toasted Pine Nuts
Sticky Coffee Banana Pudding

Kate only had her acting final left, and by now she actually had found a way to study for it. She thought it was kind of a genius idea, actually. And pretty simple, too, as people might have been able to deduce from the marquee outside:

NOW SHOWING
Thrilled to Be Here
STARRING LUCAS LEE

Yes. Because watching your acting teacher act in an action movie totally counted as studying. Kate even sent out a handwavy email to everyone else in class to notify them it was playing, and to point out that should Professor Lee drop by and see them acting so eager to watch more of his work, maybe that'd even effect their grades in a positive way.

Kate thought it was worth a shot. MST3000 was open for business.

Nathan was still in 'filling up hours' mode when he wandered into work today. Once he'd gotten back behind the bar, he asked Tino what he did when he wasn't at the bar. When Tino started saying something about cross stitching and something called an antiques roadshow, Nathan had immediately made him shut up by throwing a wet rag at his face.

"You're going to make me boring!" Nathan exclaimed, glaring. "And if I end up boring, the world is surely doomed to end. Do you want the world to end, Tino? Do you? Have you made reparations and paid penance yet?"

Tino didn't seem to believe the rant but he scooted away all the same, trying to wipe the dampness off his face as he did. Nathan pulled out his phone and clicked around to find his games before giving Tino the international symbol for 'I'm watching you.'

If the world ended, everyone had a bartender in Maryland to blame.

Alex was in her office -- not her school office; the law office downtown -- frowning as she tapped out e-mails on her laptop. She should be thinking about her final, but she was worrying more about these Games that Katniss had mentioned. She tried doing some research online, but wasn't finding much.

Her door was open.

Jessica was a bit pouty tonight as she manned the door at the Devil's Nest. She'd made a detailed blog post about how she'd met the Queen of Louisiana and the King of Arkansas and all the drama that had gone down, except it wasn't the King and Queen of her world, who weren't even married, so nobody believed her.

"Stupid alternate timelines," she grumbled.

Still not queen.
