William wasn't exactly sure what had happened over the past few days, only that he'd been following up on some rather curious notes about the school itself, and the next thing he knew... it was Tuesday and he'd missed his library shift. Hopefully the new librarian wouldn't be terribly cross, he mused as he puttered around the shop, carefully picking grapes out of bits of machinery.

It wasn't her normal day to work, but Mary had no desire to go outside in the rain. So she lingered in the lobby with a pot of tea and a romance novel. Occasionally, she would look up from her book and see people carrying towels as they came in from outside. "They must be getting soaked out there," she rationalized, though she wasn't sure why people would carry towels instead of umbrellas.

Alex was still disturbed by those images from the Opening Ceremonies of Katniss's Games, but she did her best to clear them from her mind. The best way she could honor Katniss was by continuing to teach classes about freedom, and the essential dignity of human rights.

That thought did the trick, and she was smiling by the time class began.

The NPC box office dude was not impressed with how Kate had missed her shift last week for a funeral that had turned out to be on the unnecessary side before even a whole week had passed.

Kate cared not, though. She had cute new raingear to come into work with, and she had an uplifting choice of movie thought out, too, and wouldn't hear any protests about showing movies about cyborgs and futuristic dystopian settings. She thought there was enough of all that available just by going outside and off the island.

So, the marquee was updated with her choice.

For reasons that Lion-o could not explain, the napkin dispensers had all disappeared from the diner. The busboy blamed it on the cook, the cook blamed it on the dishwasher, and the dishwasher was blaming the island.

"At least we still have napkins," said Lion-o, though he noticed that the busboy was shaking his head. "What? The napkins are gone, too? What else is there?"

A few minutes later, Lion-o and the busboy were busy putting out rolls of paper towels at each table as a substitute for the missing napkins.

Shelley started her morning with a spray tan, disgusted with the lack of sun. "It's just not the same," she muttered, frowning at her orange-tinted arms. "Just not right." She glanced out the door at the dreary sky.

"Total suckage." And that was all she had to say about it.

Lindsay was going through shelves of music to find something that fit the mood of their current location. Basically, she wanted to find something that was nice to listen to on a rainy day. She considered listening to The Doors, specifically "Riders on the Storm" on a loop. She knew that would get annoying, so she went with the whole album.

Groovy Tunes was open.

Post Office, Wednesday

The Fandom Post Office's normally smooth workings hit a snag when someone came across a package addressed to someone named "Ghost", with the only address given as "The Shell". After Rude noticed the clump of workers discussing what to do with it, he glared at them until they came and handed him the box. Not that he knew what to do with it, either. He just set it on the counter next to him and glared at it from time to time.

Luckily, the situation resolved itself when a courier from the (new) mainland arrived to take it to its final destination. The man called himself "The Deliverator" and carried a katana, but all his papers were in order, so Rude processed the forms and handed over the package.

The sense of accomplishment lasted until his lunch break, when it wasn't until after Rude had finished heating his soup in the microwave that he discovered there was no spoon.

Any hopes Alexander had of getting some research work done today went right out the window as soon as a big box of Japanese odds and ends came through the door. He could only assume these were considered somewhat vintage in the Japan on the mainland...the one he felt no desire to explore, finding the whole thing confusing and rather terrifying. He could easily say the same about some of the items within, but other things weren't so bad.

He still wasn't sure what to think of the towel cakes, but nothing was as terrifying as some of the cat things.

Zounds! Those were going way toward the back, yes.

Two teenage billionaires and a turkey walked into a pet store...

Sadly, that wasn't a joke.

Since someone was now in charge of a teacher turned fowl, who better to ask for advice on the care than Warren? That made perfect sense, right? Right? Okay, someone just needed to smack Tony for being special on this one.

"...and then he turned into a bird," Tony said. "I'd say that was the strangest thing to happen to me so far, but that wouldn't be true."

Yeah, it was Nathan's first day back and yeah, he was a little late. He couldn't help, he was enjoying the whole being alive thing. When Tino saw him alive and well, he fainted. Nathan just left him there on the floor. The mice would get him.

No, he was kidding. There weren't any mice in Caritas. That he knew of, at least.
