Butters might not have noticed it on his way to radio earlier that morning, but it was hard not to notice it on his way from class to the shop. Great big ol' rock in the middle of the camp. He'd been through enough crazy stuff in his short life to know that this was probably not a good thing.

Luckily, there were all sorts of things in the shop that he could use to make sure he was plenty protected. Shields, sticks to hit aliens with, tinfoil helmets to keep them from reading his thoughts, and a great big old guard for his bottom in case there was any probing intended.

Armed with a wrench and keeping a sledgehammer on hand, Butters was ready for whatever may come, be it scary alien or just someone wanting their radio to get a tune-up.

Vincent could say one thing for this island: it was a constant source of inspiration. He'd woken up sweating like a fiend this weekend when the temperature suddenly rose, then spent the rest of the weekend debating whether or not to do a "Thanksgiving in August" theme. He'd look dashing in one of those tall, buckled hats. Thankfully, he realized that Thanksgiving was actually problematic enough as it was when it was celebrated in November, and just went for his New England best.

Today's Specials
Hot roast beef with sweet barbecue sauce on an onion roll
Baked beans
Clam chowder

Beware of the terrible Boston accent. Vincent couldn't help but go overboard sometimes with his themes.

Momoko was sitting in the law office a bit perplexed today and not because of the piles of newspaper clippings in front of her, detailing the 'good works' and 'family values' of the judge they were investigating.

No. It was the fact that there was something actually ROPED OFF back in the campgrounds!! Something weird had appeared overnight and the school had been worried enough to try to keep people away. And while that was only a bit weird, since she'd never really know that to happen in her three years at Fandom, Momoko had also been listening to the radio all morning and no one had said anything about it!

So Momoko was at work today, but totally not thinking about law and justice...

Especially once she did finally hear the afternoon radio broadcast from the Mayor. The campgrounds would be off limits?! Definitely something was going on.

She kept an anxious eye on the clock, impatiently waiting until she could close the office and get back to the campground to help.

[Cabot and Associates is open, if a bit unfocused. BEST TIME EVER FOR LEGAL ADVICE, TRUFAX!]

Karla wanted to go home. Not because she was opposed to being on vacation, whatever certain other parties might think. But...something on the island felt weird. Very weird. Downright creepifying, in fact. Whenever she closed her eyes, she saw little flashes: a wheat field suffering from a creeping blight. Pallid mushrooms that spread and leeched life from the soil. A cold wind that blew right through clothing and froze people from the inside out.

The announcement over the loudspeaker wasn't doing that feeling any good, either. As Karla cleaned up the store and went over the stock, she wondered if maybe she could convince Warren to vacation somewhere else instead...

Jack was completely thrilled to be somewhere that wasn't covered in snow in ice--in July, that had been absolutely obscene--and had chalked up the unfriendly expressions on the locals' faces when he'd visited that afternoon with them being generally unimpressed with his decor and overall first impression.

It was hardly the first time people had seemed put-out by him, honestly.

He greeted Tiny cheerfully and then settled behind the bar with a copy of The Shipping News. It wasn't about what he thought it would be about.

Angelica thought the horses would be glad for the snow to be gone, but they seemed anxious and out of sorts that afternoon when she opened up the Gig. She tried to take each one out for exercise, but when even Duke, who was usually so laid back, balked at being led out of the stables, she decided to let them be. Hopefully whatever was bothering them would pass soon.
