Few things could make Ronan almost smile. One of those few things was his car. The BMW was covered in pollen and in desperate need of an oil change and some new tires but it still made Ronan feel a little better just by seeing it. How Gansey clung to the Pig, Ronan didn't know, when there were things out there with so much more power and that didn't break down when you breathed on it.

The hood on the BMW was up and half of Ronan's body was bent over, poking around idly. He barely noticed a presence behind him. He could see the shadow out of the corner of his eye but thought it was someone passing to get to their car and that they wouldn't talk to him.

The presence remained and Ronan whirled, ready with several barbed insults on the tip of his tongue. They all died away when the person who was there registered. Ronan actually paled. He looked momentarily frightened and scared.

Boyish.

"She's not much to look at," Niall Lynch said, glancing back at the car. "Still running?"

Ronan nodded dumbly.

"You look surprised to see me." Niall smiled like only he could. Ronan's eyes searched his father's, looking for flecks of blood in his hair or signs that he was hallucinating or being played. He saw nothing.

"Yeah, I am," he said, sounding almost angry about it. "You're dead."

"Yes." Niall nodded and stepped up beside his son. Ronan allowed the closeness. "But, I'm here now."

"Why?" Ronan asked almost like he was offended. "Why are you here?"

"To see you."

It was as simple as that. Ronan blinked several times. Niall stayed where he was, not disappearing when Ronan subtly pinched himself in case he was dreaming.

"Stop gawking, boy," Niall said, laughing deeply. "It's embarrassing."

Ronan pulled his eyes back to the engine but couldn't stop himself from looking at his father. Alive. Whole. His father didn't protest again.

Emma had gotten an interesting message when she'd check her phone last night between bouts of club-hopping with Candy, and thus she was back at Fandom today after spending all-night Portal-hopping. Playing with Portals while drunk was possibly not her best idea ever, but here she was.

She'd swept into The Perk, sending the more experienced baristas diving for cover and leaving her with some bit of fresh meat who just about cried. Good. She could use the tears to sweeten her ridiculously over-fancy drink while she figured out what do to about her caller.

Karla had danced this dance before. After spending the last few days dreaming about her parents, she knew to pack up Kayla and Warren and head to the island this weekend. She'd also invited Cora and Nyles to come along, but neither had seen the appeal of visiting her insane island to meet more adults. Well, that wasn't entirely true; Cora was intrigued by the idea of seeing the place they had met, but as soon as Karla had mentioned that her parents would likely be there, Cora had demurred. She was still very reticent about meeting new members of the Blood. And Nyles had no intentions of going anywhere without Cora, especially if it meant rubbing elbows with yet more aristos, so it was only Warren, Karla, and Kayla who stepped through the portal and into the park.

When she arrived, she sent a small pulse through the Ebon-gray, a kind of announcement of her arrival for anyone who could feel it. Yes, if she wanted to, she could search for her parents' Jewels and go to them, but...it was a beautiful day with her daughter in the park. Karla's parents could come to them. She set out a blanket while Warren cuddled Kayla and prepared to relax. Even if it took them awhile to arrive--as it so often did--Karla was going to enjoy the day with her family.

If Atton was at all honest with himself, the reason they were here was because he couldn't deal with being alone with her for much longer. Sure, sometimes, he'd allowed himself to dream - to picture what would happen if he saw her again - but now that Meetra was here in the flesh, every scrap of inadequacy he'd felt that kept him from doing anything the first time had come rushing back in.

So they'd gone outside, and he'd gotten the two of them some soft serve to go.

They'd walked through the park and wound up here, by the water, the wind blowing in their hair. It was pretty out here, and Meetra seemed to agree, the way she was staring over the walls out at that wide plane of water.

Atton? Atton was a little busy with that ice cream. He didn't actually like soft serve, had only gotten it to obscure the weird mixture of feelings he was currently having, and now he was stuck with a drippy mess that would only get more drippy if he didn't eat the damned thing.

At least he'd graduated from flinging pizza around.

"It's nice," Meetra said quietly.

"Yep," Atton said, and focused on the sticky feeling the ice cream was leaving behind.

Mike had no visitors this weekend. He still didn't even know there was another thing happening currently. As far as he could tell, it was what passed for a normal weekend on this weird island, and he was having a normal shift at the bar.

But he'd finally shaved his beard and mustache off.

Tino seemed glad about this.
