You know, 24 hours had really classed up the joint. By which we meant the possums now looked a touch greyer around the edges, and all of them were wearing very fashionable tuxedos as they swanned around with what was largely a collection of mocktails.

You could get the spiked ones if you asked for them, though.

This time, the blue and yellow was all over the floor, leftover glitter stuck to the carpet. The lights were dim, the music was Swift-forward, and a small device near the back of the room projected swirling stars against the ceiling.

Jack woke up on a park bench.

That was disorienting, because it had been a long time since the last time he'd slept on a park bench. At least a couple decades. It had probably been this very park bench, though, he registered slowly as he sat up and felt his back do a thing it shouldn't be doing.

He rubbed his face. Squinted. Rubbed his face again. Squinted some more. "Definitely flamingos," he muttered.

Yep. Yep, this was Fandom all right.

"This is the last time I touch any flyer I get from the school without gloves on," he said, and finally stood up, stretching.

Ugh.

As soon as Thor had determined that he had traveled back in time, and found himself quite unaccompanied (probably for the best, given the mental state of one Donald Blake in Thor's present), he had resolved to carry on this weekend as if he was his usual self. Perhaps no one would notice his hair and armor were slightly different and ask him awkward questions.

It was strange. His straits had seemed so dire when he had first been here--Asgard and the Aesir gone, his friends all at odds with one another--and yet it had been such a time of hope for a new beginning, for himself and Donald both. Where had it gone so wrong?

It was a very contemplative god of thunder behind the bar of the Nest tonight, and as far as specials, well, good luck with that.
