It was a truly noble pursuit. A quest worthy of gods, in fact! Or one god and the closest facsimile the mutant community could muster without possessing someone with a giant flaming space bird. The best that Evan had been able to put together in the way of a chariot (or even a rickshaw) was mostly just a red toy wagon with some gold spray-paint on it, but that was hardly going to stop him.

After all, Loki had the best of ideas. And, admittedly? Evan just really wanted an excuse to play with the puppies.

"There are so many," he said, eyes a little wide as he looked around the pet store. "How do I know when I've found the, um... trusty steed that's right for me?"

He was pretty sure the only thing that was going to fit in his makeshift chariot was a bunch of puppy supplies, but that was fine, right? They all looked pretty tiny and floppy to Evan.

[For one! But open place in town is open for anyone else who needs the pet shop, of course!]

It had been a fairly quiet week, what with classes being out and the whole shark... thing... being done and over with, and Evan had been handling it about as productively as one might imagine, with a stack of library books that he was making his way through like a man on a mission.

His mission, of course, was to get through the library books before they were overdue.

He had a small pile of them with him at the Perk this morning, having found a quiet corner with a couch that he could curl up on, and he was alternating between silently losing himself in books on Egyptian history and ancient battle strategies, and emailing his Uncle Cluster with his phone to continue working out the dynamics of him staying on the island for another semester. Things were still pretty crazy among the X-Men with the whole... Phoenix... thing... and so Evan's uncle agreed that it was probably for the best that he stay on the island for a little longer. And then told him to go forth and sow some wild oats, and that he'd be very disappointed if he didn't have to post bail at least once before the semester was through.

Evan wrinkled his nose a little as he reached for the chai latte that he'd ordered. He... was going to just get back to reading about the Battle of Actium, and pretend that he had no idea what any of that meant. Yeah.

[Open Perk! Come entertain me while I animate crocodiles?]

Miriam had been doing so well. She'd managed two weeks in Fandom without touching someone until the guy behind the counter at JGOB had touched her arm to get her attention and ugh she did not need to see that before eating. So now with no appetite for breakfast she was sitting on a bench and tearing her muffin into pieces and flicking them at the ducks and generally feeling pissed off at the world until she could get the vision out of her head.
