He wasn't sick anymore, so Cal was thinking he had a right to be in a better mood today. Unfortunately, though, he wasn't. It wasn't notably bad or terrible, just a little blah and nothing that he could really seem to easily get out of. He tried to make himself some saganaki (lighting things on fire; a surefire mood picker-upper), but, after yesterday's history class, the attempt only made his mood worse. So now, he wasn't only feeling dejected, he was feeling a little depressed and missing his father.

Well, at least he had those Rumor Gal books that Claire got him for his birthday.

Sometimes, when you'd been on this island for as long as Chad had, or, really, even before that, when weird stuff was just bound to happen, you could feel it. Kind of. Chad was also thinking the feeling of strangeness surrounding him at the store could have very well have meant he shouldn't have put that Burn a Hole in your Soul hot sauce on the omelette he had before coming in for work.

He kept looking toward Prince Oscar Pedro to see if he felt it, too, but the cat was far more interested in dust motes in the air, which reminded him that he should dust, so he went to go do that, especially since he was the only one of the employees that could really get the high spits.

Today's mix was a blend of a lot of German techno-pop. Chad couldn't explain why he wanted to listen to it, but maybe it was causing the weird feeling he was getting.

Or the omelette. No, he was definitely thinking it had to be the omelette.

Limes. Bunches and bunches of limes.

Ray thought limes were totally +1 against peppers or something. Shut up, he'd never done D&D as a kid and he'd slug anybody who mentioned it. But. Limes.

Stuffing them in her locker wasn't enough. There was a lime by the bad coffee, there were two limes on her keyboard, and one even sat proudly in Daisy's seat, sliced half-open and grinning in all its limeyness.

Ha.

Hurley was very glad he wasn't wearing an odd hat today. It made going out to work much easier.

Arya was thankful that the hat from yesterday had seemed to disappear. She hadn't minded wearing it, not that much. If she'd had to wear it again today, she might have changed her opinion.

Kaylee kind of loved her hat yesterday, to be honest. So her shift today was spent looking up similar hats online. Maybe she could wear it to the next big party!

After his conversation with Adora this week, Dor is paying more attention to the comic books these days. Behind the counter Dor has a stack of comic books next to him that he is reading/conversing with as he tries to get the whole point of this whole super hero thing.

Agnes had decided she LIKED the hat, darn it, so last night she had secured it firmly to her head with a half-dozen long, wicked-looking hatpins to prevent it from disappearing.

She was well aware that it wouldn't have worked if she wasn't a witch. Nevertheless, here she was at work the next day, wearing the giant bow instead of her usual black pointy thing.

She was FIERCE.

The first thing Jenny did upon getting in to work on Friday was gather any and all hats remaining in the store, toss them in a trash can, and set it on fire. No sense courting danger or whatever.

A handlettered sign in the window read, NO HATS.

While straightening up the store, Harper accidentally knocked over an old chess set. After recovering all the pieces, she set up a chess game at the register with a sign:

Liir was once again working on the knitting book even as he considered Hurley's idea from yesterday. An Iron Chef competition on the island? And then what he'd said about the odds being stacked in his favor? Well...

Maybe he just needed a new hobby or something.

Hence knitting. Useful, warm, and something familiar; Nanny had never shown him but she'd made all manner of things when her fingers were up to it. So, vowing to get a nice set of needles and some yarn, he continued reading about wash cycles.

"Of course I'll hand-wash it..."

Mary was a little late getting to work that morning. She might have lingered in front of the mirror for a while to make sure that hat was gone before leaving her suite.

Viki was not late—though, perhaps, only be her definition of not being late. Others would probably say she was very late indeed.

But her day had included the park, and then the beach, and she was leisurely sipping at a smoothie as she wandered into the store and mulled over the fact that she was even there at all today.

She’d been starting to wonder if she’d ever show, quite honestly.

Buffy had started out on patrol. It didn't last long. It was freaking cold and there were no vampires here anyway, so she could hang out in a nice heated coffee shop for a while, with coffee, and a newspaper because otherwise she was bored out of her mind just sitting there.

She wasn't actually reading the paper, either. Unless the funnies counted.

When Jolee walked into Caritas tonight, he saw Tino sitting on top of T1-N0 and giving orders to zoom around the club. Then, suddenly, Tino lifted into the air thanks to the Force, letting the droid get away. "The droid is not a toy. Or a vehicle. Keep this up and I'll name him assistant manager."

Tino frowned as Jolee lowered him.

"If it happens, it's your own fault. Now go ahead and put up the sign you made."

After a week of honesty and hats, Rikku couldn't tell if she was more relieved or disappointed that Friday seemed to be normal, so far. She'd settle for alternating between the two.

(OCD-free because late. Late because still plague-ridden.)
